Minister of Christian Education/Congregational Care


Reverend Melissa Young was licensed into the Gospel  Ministry in 2002 and became on ordained minister in 2014.  After working in the public school system for over 14 years as a special education teacher, she adhered to God’s call to serve in minister full time. Rev. Young  currently serves as the Executive Minister at Cedar Street Baptist Church of God in which she oversees the daily operations of the church.  She oversees the implementation, development and spiritual development of all the ministries of the church,  as well as, teaches a variety of Bible Study classes throughout the year.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Masters of Divinity in Theology from Virginia Union University.  She also holds an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Regent University.  She is the mother of three children, two boys, Xavier and Elijah and one daughter, Symmone.  Her favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me”.
