Pate served as Youth and Young Adult Minister and most recently was privileged to serve in the capacity of Director of Missions for the past five years. Rev. Pate displays a heart for service noting, “I love to serve…that’s just what I love to do…serving people and helping people is a part of what’s engrained in me!”

Married for nine years as of December 23, 2016, Rev. Pate has the privilege of having serve at his side, Dr. Courtney Pate. Rev Pate notes sincere appreciation and pride in the gift of his high school sweetheart. He also notes that one of his greatest joys is being with his family. “When I was growing up, I always wanted a family… I love being a father and a husband.” While this writer was presented the opportunity to interview Rev. Pate, Rev. Pate wanted to make sure that CSBC was aware of how proud he is of his wife, one of the first two African Americans to receive a PHD from West Virginia University "School of Nursing". Rev. Pate celebrates the intelligence and resiliency of his wife and would like to acknowledge that; “I know she’s gone have my back… I definitely found a good thing in her… I appreciate the gift that she is to me and my family…”

Rev. Pate reflects on his life, his favorite scripture comes from his relationship with his grandmother and the text, Psalm 91 verses 1-2; He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God in Him I will trust.”
